All container shipments to Yemen (regardless of final destination / transit cargo included) must have an ADVANCED CARGO DECLARATION (ACD), also named cargo waiver. The ACD must be obtained from the port of loading by the shippers, exporters or freight forwarders. It is mandatory to include the ACD number on the Bill of Lading. Any cargo arriving at Yemen without a valid ACD can lead to penalties, delays in customs clearance and, in severe cases, seizure or confiscation of goods. The ACD certificate should be validated at least five days prior to arrival at Yemen.
